An app has been launched which shows visitors to the Essex Sunshine Coast how busy the beaches are.
LoveTendring was first created by Tendring District Council (TDC) to promote events and what’s on in the area.
Now the authority’s IT team has added new functionality, making the app even more useful for users.
The interactive maps function shows nearby car parks, toilets and other facilities, and also tells you how busy beaches are based on hourly data from TDC’s Beach Patrol.
Alex Porter, TDC Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said the new look and feel – as well as the new information – made the app a real must-have for residents and visitors alike.
“LoveTendring is packed with useful information for people when they visit our district, whether they come from afar or are being tourists in their own area,” Councillor Porter said.
“The busy beaches feature in particular is really useful – showcasing our quieter beaches as well as the more popular ones. That is useful if you’re worried about social distancing, just prefer a quiet beach, or even if you enjoy people watching and want more of a crowd.
“I’d encourage everyone to download LoveTendring today.”

The app still contains what’s on information, as well as details of activities around Clacton 150, the Princes Theatre and others.
There is also useful information for residents, such as showing a ward map of the district and where polling stations are, and linking to the MyTendring online self-service system where people can do things like checking their rubbish day.
Councillor Carlo Guglielmi, TDC Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Resources, added: “Our IT team has done a fantastic job with this app, developing it into something which can be used year-round.
“We will continue to develop new features on LoveTendring going forward, and we would ask people to share their feedback and ideas with us so we can continue to deliver something useful for residents going forward.”
