Lawford is a village and civil parish in the Tendring district which merges into Manningtree (believed to be the smallest town by area).
Offering easily accessible bus and rail links, there are many walking routes to discover some of which take you along the banks of the River Stour.
The ring ditches and banks to the south west of Reed Island are the remnants of a Neolithic religious site. Flint implements and Neolithic pottery have been found there.
The Church of St. Mary, a grade 1 listed building, contains rich 14th Century stone carvings in the chancel. Extensive alterations have taken place in the 16th, 17th, 19th and 20th centuries.
The Venture Centre is a purpose-built community centre.
